World Boxing Council welterweight champion Mario “Azteca” Barrios (29-2, 18 KOs) of San Antonio, Texas, held a media workout in Las Vegas prior to his highly anticipated showdown with Abel Ramos (28-6-2, 22 KOs) of Phoenix, Arizona.
The two Mexican warriors will face off for welterweight supremacy in a 12-round world title fight on the preliminary card of Most Valuable Promotions’ big event headlined by Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson.
Here’s what Barrios had to say about his upcoming matchup:
“Defending my world title is a great honor and I know Abel Ramos is a tough opponent who always comes to fight. He’s experienced and dangerous, so I expect a very close battle. But I’m ready to prove why I’m the champion and why this belt stays with me.
“Training camp has been intense but great. We’ve been working hard in Las Vegas, focusing on every detail to make sure I’m ready for whatever Ramos brings. I feel strong, fit and more motivated than ever to put on a great performance.
“It’s amazing to be a part of this historic event with the fights streaming on Netflix. Boxing is reaching a whole new audience and being on this platform alongside legends like Mike Tyson and big names like Jake Paul and Amanda Serrano is a great opportunity. I’m excited to showcase my skills to fans around the world.
“Fighting in Texas is always special for me. I’m a proud San Antonio native and every time I fight here I feel that extra support and energy from the crowd. Texas has some of the best boxing fans in the world and it’s an honor to defend my title in front of them.
“Fans can expect me to leave it all in the ring. I’ve been training to make a statement and I’m going to give everything I have to keep this belt. Whether you’re watching it live at AT&T Stadium or streaming it on Netflix, you’ll see an exciting fight and a champion determined to emerge victorious.”
