Mexican Marilyn Badillo seeks to defeat undefeated undisputed flyweight champion Gabriela Fundora.
Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora became the undisputed champion last November.
After becoming IBF champion, Fundora faced Argentina’s Gabriela Alaniz, who at the time was WBC, WBO, and WBA champion.
The bout at the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, was dominated in its entirety by Fundora. In the seventh round, “Chucky” was sent twice to the canvas by the American. Victory was Gaby’s.
Marilyn “Mexicana” Badillo is not a first time WBC title challenger. Last year she won the WBC Intercontinental flyweight title.
On March 9, 2024, Badillo faced Tania “Finita” Garcia. It lasted all 10 rounds and was decided by unanimous decision, with Marilyn the Victoriana.
Alma “Leona” Meraz was the first and, to date, the only opponent the “Mexicana” faced in defense of the WBC intercontinental title.
Now, after asking for the fight, Marilyn will try to become undisputed champion. All tall orders present an exacting degree of difficulty.
