After six years out of the ring, Sergio ‘Maravilla’ Martínez returned, scoring a technical knockout in the seventh round over tame, listless Spaniard redhead José Miguel Fandiño.
With intelligence and well timed combinations the spritely, spirited forty five year old veteran Argentine, sent his mostly meek opponent, who`s nine years younger to the canvas In the sixth. Jose Miguel who was overawed, overmatched and overwhelmed got up and barely made it to the bell.
In the very next round he was sent back to the canvas, courtesy of a digging left to the body and his team threw the towel in. ‘Maravilla’ Martínez (52-3-2, 29KO’s), a worthy and worldly winner.
Although Fandiño was no fandango, (15-7, 8 KO’s) with gloves cupped high, not amounting to much, often fighting back with the ferocity of a lamb, former world champion, Martínez showed he’s back in shape and can still fight!
