Democratic Republic of the Congo fighter Ilunga Makabu (27-2, 24 knockouts), who’s cruiserweight champion of the World Boxing Council, is in Germany, to begin his training with a view to defending his crown, probably in December.
Ilunga will be working alongside the WBC Mediterranean welterweight champion Ilhami Aydemir, who is expected to fight on the same card.
Makabu was crowned world champion on January 31 of this year, defeating previously unbeaten Michal Cieslak in a bout for the vacant cruiserweight world title.
Makabu will soon have to defend his crown against the winner of the elimination bout between South Africa’s Thabiso Mchunu and the Nigerian Olanrewaju Durodola.
