Superb and dedicated international referee Lupe García, has presented his book entitled, Facts and Sports Realities of a Boxing Referee, during the traditional “Coffee Tuesday.”
It aims to share his experiences and knowledge to all those who have the task of being the third man in the ring.
Motivated to leave a legacy in this sport that he loves so much, Lupe took about a year to formulate these memoirs that were transferred to a book, with the help of Dr. Rodrigo Merlo.
Dr. Merlo commented that the book tells in each chapter, Lupe’s experiences and anecdotes in each country visited, speaking not only of the protocols and rules that a referee must have clear in a boxing fight but also of the culture, gastronomy and traditions.
For Don Lupe, this book represents a life of work, dedication and love of boxing, because, as he himself commented, his passion for this sport was strong since he was a child, when in his native Panales, Guanajuato he saw his father put on the gloves and get into the ring.
Grateful to all who have been part of his history as a referee, Lupe took time out to remember a man he considers his mentor and beyond that, his great friend. Don José Sulaimán, a man who taught him values, from whom he learned that serving others is the best job and that the task of a referee is the most valuable thing because in his hands he has the life of the boxer.
He recalled: “Don José always told me remember that it is better to stop a fight one punch earlier than one punch later.”
The President of the WBC; Mr. Mauricio Sulaimán congratulated Lupe in a very special way, not only for realizing his dream, but for his entire career and the excellent work he has done since he began in this noble work.
For the WBC leader, Don Lupe is the best Mexican referee and said that his graduation was that fight held in England between Lennox Lewis and Oliver McCall, where Lupe García rightly, regardless of the pressure from the public, stopped the fight in the second round, making it clear to the whole world that the most important thing will always be the safety and integrity of the boxer.
Guadalupe García invited all his colleagues and boxing lovers to buy his book, because as he himself stated, in these pages they will not only find stories and anecdotes but also a lifetime of learning.
Sports facts and realities of a boxing referee has a cost of 500 pesos and can be purchased through the Amazon platform or directly with its author.
