World Boxing Council flyweight champion Julio César Martínez, hops up a division to 115 pounds, to face the former champion, Román “Chocolatito” González, this Saturday, March 5th at the Pechanga Arena, in San Diego, California.
Martínez (18-1 14 KOs) fights at 115 pounds for the first time and does so against a renowned former world champion Chocolatito (50-3 41 KOs), the Mexican replacing Juan Francisco Estrada.
This Thursday both fighters held a press conference, where they were face to face for the first time before gloves on.
“We have worked a long time to get back in the ring. Martínez is in his moment, reigning in his category. I have always said that there is no small rival. They are all good, they all have hands and one hand can end a fight.
“ Martínez has his own, he is good and he is strong. But, the main thing is that we leave healthy and that the best man wins,” said Chocolatito González.
“I am delighted to be able to move up in weight and fight the best immediately. Chocolatito is a living legend and a fighter that I have always admired, so to fight him in my first bout at super flyweight is special.
“It will be a war and I am ready for it. We are going with everything except fear,” Martínez exclaimed.
The fight, which is promoted by Matchroom Boxing, will be televised on DAZN.
