Travieso`s  story- A promise which changed my life

The power of a promise is a powerful, inspirational and driving factor, which can change destiny!

When he was a child, the Father of Jorge “Travieso” Arce was involved in a terrible accident and rushed to hospital. Critically ill and in intensive care, he pulled through, after twelve years old Jorge swore he would one day make Dad proud by becoming a world Champion.

At Mexico City`s Food Market, Jorge accompanied by Dra Norma Gonzalez who wrote the book, which is being launched, entitled: “Una Promesa que cambio en mi vida,” held his audience spellbound, and shed tears in the process, as he recalled through all the tubes and bandages, his Father raised a hand to touch his.  And then he had to fulfil his part of the bargin…and how…because he won world championships in four different weight divisions. As he said all this, you could have heard a pin drop, and then a cascade of applause.  It`s no real surprise that Jorge is now a motivational speaker.

Jorge said: “I don`t know how I managed to achieve all that I have done in a lot of fights many of them wars. Sometimes it wasn’t pretty and it was always pretty hard and thanks to God. I started boxing at sixteen and I was a world Champion at the age of nineteen. I really enjoyed this part of my life. And Don Jose Sulaiman was inspirational, advising me to train hard, conserve my money and lead a clean life. Don Jose was proud of me.

“Many know how I promised my Dad who was in hospital that if he recovered, I`d win the world title for him and I did it.  I was a world champion seven times.  How I loved a fight in the ring. It was in my blood. It`s part of my character I used in the ring, to pressure, pressure and then pressure my opponent. I`m a warrior.”

Dra Norma Gonzalez who the author of this book but also Jorge`s Chaplain. She said: “Jorge`s quality is that he has a great heart an iron determination and a vision. It was the plan that God had  a plan for Jorge. It was his destiny. To be a champion once is difficult enough, but Jorge achieved it seven times! If you believe in the Lord anything and everything is possible.”
