Kevin Lerena to Defend WBC bridgerweight Title
Kevin “KO Kid” Lerena is set to make the first defense of his WBC bridgerweight title against Ukrainian contender Serhiy Radchenko on May 1st in South Africa.
Lerena was named WBC cruiserweight champion after Lawrence Okolie vacated the title. “KO Kid” had previously held the WBC interim bridgerweight title, which he earned with a victory over Senad Gashi in late 2023.
Lerena is no stranger to WBC honors, having previously held youth titles and the Boxing South Africa cruiserweight championship.
Serhiy “Kremen” Radchenko will be chasing his first WBC-sanctioned title. So far, his only championship accomplishment has been as the Ukrainian national champion.
The champion enters the fight with a 30-3 record, including 14 knockouts.
The challenger comes in with a record of 11-7, with 5 knockouts.
