World Boxing Council Bridgerweight champion Kevin Lerena (30-3, 14 KOs) will defend his crown against the division’s Silver champion, Ukrainian Serhiy Radchenko, on May 1 at the Sunbet Arena in Pretoria, South Africa.
Lerena won the WBC interim title in November 2023 with a unanimous decision over Senad Gashi. He was promoted to full champion in October, after Lawrence Okolie vacated the belt and moved up to heavyweight.
After spending 2023 establishing himself as a bridger, Lerena returned to heavyweight in early 2024. But a narrow loss to Justis Huni last March prompted Lerena to consider returning to bridger.
Radchenko (11-7, 5 KOs), 37, has won four consecutive fights since 2021, capturing the WBC Silver title.
This Wednesday, both fighters passed the official weigh-in, reporting themselves in excellent condition and frame of mind, to enter the ring.
Lerena weighed in at 101.4 kg, while Radchenko weighed in at 95.6 kg.
