Super middleweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Anthony “The Dog” Dirrell (33-1-1, 24 KOs) will face the undefeated former world champion, David “Red Flag” Benavidez (21-0, 18 KOs) this Saturday night.
Dirrell comes from re-conquering the vacant super middleweight title by defeating Turkish Avni Yildirim by a technical decision, in Minnesota. Benavidez, who already held the WBC crown, reappeared after more than a year of inactivity defeating J’Leon Love.
The WBC recognizes the professionalism of both fighters and their respective teams, as they have presented all the medical requirements, exams and safety protocols that the WBC requests.
We greatly appreciate the work of William Boodhoo, who is responsible for timely monitoring of all requirements.
