At the annual WBC Convention in Hamburg, Germany, bantamweight champion Junto Nakatani was awarded for his excellent 2024, winning the title and defending it twice in devastatingly eddective fashion.
Twenty-six-year-old Nakatani, whose nickname is “Ai no Kenshi” (Fighter of Love), has captured the adoration of boxing fans around the world.
Undefeated with a record of 29 wins and 22 knockouts, his rise has been meteoric, winning world titles at flyweight, super flyweight and most recently bantamweight.
Tall and slender, the Japanese southpaw possesses excellent boxing skills, brilliant timing and a pulverizing and punctuating left hand, with which he has often concluded fights in spectacular style.
Junto’s trainer is Rudy Hernandez. He led his brother, the late Genaro “Chicanito” Hernandez to a WBC super featherweight world title win against the legendary Azumah Nelson. He then made three successful defenses before being defeated by Floyd Mayweather.
