Julio César Chávez and Jorge “Travieso” Arce III…the night of dynasties

 This Saturday two legends of the ring, the great Julio César Chávez and brilliant Jorge Arce, will meet for the third time,  in an exhibition match at the Las Torres hotel in Tijuana, with all the proceeds going to charity.

Julio will benefit ten people to enter his addiction rehab clinic for free, while Jorge  will provide rooms for people with low resources.

Mauricio Sulaimán, President of the WBC, spoke of the legacy that both have left in the sport, stressing these two superstars are few and far between.  Therefore,  the official appointment of Julio and Jorge as Ambassadors of the Otomí Belt is apt, as who better than them to be  the highest representatives of Mexican boxing. He announced that he will  travel to Tijuana not only to be part of this unforgettable event but also to deliver the Humanitarian Award to Dr. Carla Pérez, who like many health champions has steadfastly  been on the front line of the fight against COVID-19.

Rafael Soto, who is the architect of this card, was enthusiastic to see the response from the fans and especially from the fighters who have shown total willingness for everything to go according to health protocols.

He described this extravaganza as a fulfillment plus progression of dynasties, because on the one hand Julio César Chávez Jr. will face Mario Cázares, while  José Luis Castillo Jr. (son of the former world champion) will also see action against Eliot Chávez, and Jorge’s nephew, Karim Arce, will fight versus David Martino. In addition to the return of world champion Yamileth Mercado.
