Green and Gold Ambassador Josejas came to “Martes de Cafe” weekly press conference with a strong message: Work together to prevent and raise awareness about prostate cancer with the “No Shave November.”
And like every year, November is the month dedicated to preventing and raising awareness among men about this illness, which, as our furry friend explained to us, is the second most common type of cancer in men and the fourth most common type of cancer throughout the world,
one in six men are at risk of developing it. In 2020 an approximate of 1.5 million new cases were around the world and it is a reality that each year the mortality figure is increasing. Time for action!
He added that various studies have revealed that there are five main risk factors:
1.- Eat a diet high in dairy, red meat and calcium
2.- Obesity
3.- Alcohol and tobacco consumption
4.- Be over 65 years of age
5.- Family history and genetics
Wearing a commemorative t-shirt, Josejas urged everyone not to be afraid and join this “No Shave November” movement that encourages men to grow their facial hair to raise awareness about the importance of taking care of their physical, mental and well-being. emotional, but also to have an annual check-up if you are over 50 years of age or if a family member was diagnosed before the age of 65.
WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán said that prevention is our best ally, so as part of the actions that the organization will take in this campaign, the first was to give away prostate-specific antigen tests to all members of the WBC, press and champions who attended the traditional meeting.
