Former super lightweight champion José Carlos Ramírez, defeated ex champion José Pedraza by UD, at the Save Mart Center, in Fresno, California.
Ramirez (27-1, 17 KOs) was back to winning ways, following last May’s decision loss to Josh Taylor in a matchup for the undisputed title.
Pedraza (29-4, 14 KOs) had some success in the middle rounds, keeping Ramirez at bay.
Ramirez was up by two points on all three judges’ scorecards entering the 11th round, and he turned up the pressure. Scores were 116-112 on the three judges’ scorecards.
Ramírez said: “José Pedraza is a smart and experienced fighter. He was going to find a way to survive and fight. He was fighting until the end of the fight. Hats off to him and his team. He was well prepared. It was a great fight. Fight.”
“I will come back, I will work, I will stay focused and active,” Pedraza said.
