Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez will defend his World Boxing Council super flyweight title against Srisaket Sor Rungvisai on Saturday, June 25 at Tech Port Arena in San Antonio, Texas, in a bout that will be broadcast live worldwide on DAZN.
Rodriguez (15-0 10 KOs) makes the first defense of the belt he impressively won in February, defeating former world champion Carlos Cuadras to become the youngest reigning WBC world champion in just his 15th pro fight.
The 22-year-old will face a tough test when he risked his green and gold belt for the first time, facing former champion Sor Rungvisai (50-5-1 43 KOs). The Thai star was scheduled to face Cuadras, but Rungvisai fell ill and was replaced by the new young champion.
The 35-year-old warrior has a shot at the coveted green and gold belt for the third time, as he first held the belt in 2013 by defeating Japan’s Yota Sato and then regained it against Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez in 2017.
Today, both contenders presented the official weigh-in without any problem:
Jesse Rodriguez: 114.6 Lbs
Srisaket Sor Rungvisai: 114.6 Lbs.
