With a great party, with champions, ex boxers, actors and singers as guests, the former Mexican champion Julio César Chávez celebrated his 60th birthday in Mexico City.
The most important and successful champion in the history of Mexico thanked all his guests, who also included commentators from the country’s major television stations.
“This is a big surprise for me. I thank you very much for being here with me. It’s even hard for me to say it… Sixty years old,” commented Julio.
Julio was accompanied by some family members and close friends,as Mauricio Sulaimán, President of the World Boxing Council, former champions Erik Morales and Miguel Angel Cotto, as well as people from entertainment such as Yolanda Andrade, Edith Márquez and Roberto Palazuelos.
Julio is considered the best Mexican boxer of all time and one of the finest in history. He won four world titles in three different divisions: Super Featherweight, Lightweight and Super Lightweight.
Julio retired with a record of 107 wins, 86 knockouts, four losses and two draws. He holds the record for the most world title fights with 37, the most defenses of the championship with 29 and is the first Mexican to win three crowns in a different division.
