Javier Fortuna wins WBC eliminator

In a knockout match in the lightweight division endorsed by the WBC, Dominican southpaw fighter Javier Fortuna halted former featherweight champion Jesus Cuéllar in just two rounds, on Saturday night at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

Fortuna dropped Cuellar (29-4), twice. The Argentine fighters was overwhelmed from the beginning.

Fortuna got his second victory in a row , both in 2019. The 30-year-old left-hander has now a record of 35-2-1 (27KO), and hopes to fight for the WBC crown shortly.
