
A video tribute to Hijo del Santo was presented on Martes de Cafe. The video explains the relationship between the fighter and the WBC, as Hijo del Santo is the only fighter to hold a WBC belt.
After a lean spell, Don Jose Sulaiman, presented him with an opportunity to get back on track. He got the fighter a WBC title fight in the Philippines.
El Hijo del Santo won on December 3, 2007 in which he contested the belt against Japanese fighter Kamui.
That helped him to rebound his career, and the fighter does not forget this moment.
Hijo del Santo:
“I feel very proud to be the only WBC champion fighter.
“I will never stop thanking Don Jose, Mauricio, the World Boxing Council and also Erick el “Terrible” Morales.
“This championship gave me my life back, it gave me back the pride of wearing this mask.”
The legendary fighter is on his farewell tour.
In October he celebrates 43 years of wrestling career, this tour will be his last in the ring. April 6 will be his last fight at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico at 5:00 pm.
It will also be the Mexico City debut of his son, Santo Jr. The young fighter made his debut alongside his father in London.
“Everything that begins ends. I’m at a good time to say goodbye to wrestling.
“Thank God I’m not retiring because of an injury, I’m leaving because it’s time to say goodbye with a lot of dignity and very proud of these 43 years as a professional wrestler.”
