The African Boxing Union held its 2024 Convention at the Africana Hotel in the beautiful city of Kampala, Uganda, from August 19-23. Its President Houcine Houchi solidified his leadership by laying out a great work program for Africa in 2025.

Martha Saldivar Sulaiman, Matriarch of the World Boxing Council, beloved mother and grandmother of the Sulaiman family, passed away surrounded by her loved ones. The world boxing community embraced the family with multiple displays of affection. Dona Martha’s farewell took place in front of a room packed with floral arrangements from loved ones.

The WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán and the President of Premios Nacionales Deportivos Mexicanos, A.C., Olympic medalist Daniel Aceves Villagrán, unveiled a wall that recognizes all the winners of the National Sports Award. Don José and Mauricio are the only Father and Son who have received this distinction from the hands of the President of Mexico.
The second edition of the José Sulaimán Chagnón Boxing Tournament organized by the WBC and the Secretary of Citizen Security in Mexico was held, in which 25 police officers from various sectors and 36 citizens from various gyms participated.

Prashanth Singh and Abhishek Kadali of the Indian Boxing Council (IBC), the main sanctioning body for professional boxing in that country affiliated with the WBC, visited the offices of the body in Mexico City, to present an interesting project: the Professional Boxing League of India (IPBL) where they will seek to support and promote new talents from the region.
The WBC held a course for Boxing trainers in Shanghai, China, gathering a large number of participants, providing them with an intensive and comprehensive education on the basics and fundamentals of boxing training. The WBC Far East team led by Aku Zhang played a fundamental role in supervising the course.
