After defeating durable British John Ryder at the Akron stadium in Jalisco, Mexico, the Mexican champion will return to the United States to defend his 168-pound championships for the third time against one of the few current undisputed champions. Jermell Charlo, 33 years old, undisputed super welterweight champion, has carved out a marvellous career, and comes into this fight after KO`ing tough Argentine Brian Castaño.
The American has a stellar record of 35-1-1, with 19 knockouts and it will be his debut at super middleweight. He`s overcome a quality lineup of excellent rivals, namely Brian Castaño, Austin Trout, Gabriel Rosado and Tony Harrison.
While Canelo approaches the Red Letter Day with justified confidence backed up by a results card to envy. He has a record of 7-1-1 in fights in the month of September, including the conculding thrillogy, trilogy victory against Gennady Golovkin, in Las Vegas. His only defeat at this time was against Floyd Mayweather, in 2013, in the early part of his carrer, before he was fully developed into a superstar.
