
The majestic Austin Coliseum is all spruced up, as the perfect setting for the official announcement of the start of the national tournament “The Big Belt Championship,” presented by Boxing Showcase with the support of the World Boxing Council (WBC) this September 17th.
Luis Fernández and Nosa Divine Nehikhare, of Nigerian origin based in Austin, José Miguel López -CEO of The Boxing Showcase- gave the details of this great tournament that seeks to develop and give opportunity to boxing prospects throughout the United States.

Luis Fernández said “I am happy and eager to fight in front of my people and what better way to do it in this great event. I already had the opportunity to debut with The Boxing Showcase on July 30 and they treated me wonderfully.”
As for Nosa Divine Nehikhare, a Nigerian who lives in this beautiful city, he stressed “I am excited about doing things well and being able to win my fight. I want to transcend in boxing, and this is a great opportunity to show what I’m made of“.
All stages of the tournament will be broadcast on international television, in Mexico through AYM Sports on its different pay TV channels, on Adrenalina Sports Network and its digital platforms; in addition to United States, which will broadcasted it by pay-per-view.
Registration is open and closes on September 10, the invitation is for all 4-round professional boxers from the United States. They must have a professional boxer license, have no more than 6 fights. Rookies are accepted and have to comply with the medical and physical examinations requIred by the Texas Department License & Regulation “Combative Sports”.
The divisions that have been opened for women are Flyweight (112 pounds), Bantamweight (118 pounds), Featherweight (126 pounds) and Lightweight (135 pounds); while for men there will be 8 divisions: Flyweight (112 pounds), Bantamweight (118 pounds), Featherweight (126 pounds), Lightweight (135 pounds), Welterweight (147 pounds), Middleweight (160 pounds), Light heavyweight (175 pounds) and Heavyweight (+200 pounds).
