Great presentation of the 60th WBC Convention at Palacio Mundial Imperial Hotel in Acapulco
With great enthusiasm, a press conference was held at the Palacio Mundial Imperial hotel in Acapulco to announce details of the event that will put this tourism destination in the sights of the world, the WBC Convention in its 60th edition.
Adriana Ramos, Public Relations Manager of Mundo Imperial Acapulco, was in charge of welcoming all those who attended, but also of making it official that the Hotel Palacio Mundial Imperial will host this important event. She excitedly commented that the entire hotel group has all the experience to receive the WBC family and thanked the WBC president, Mauricio Sulaimán for his trust.
Mr. Manuel Negrete Arias, president of the Acapulco Tourism Promotion Trust, expressed the illusion of receiving the WBC and hosting its annual convention. He commented that since Acapulco was confirmed as the venue for this great event, all those involved have gone to work so that the hundreds of convention participants feel at home and when they will return to their countries, will take beautiful memories of the State of Guerrero.
“We want you to know how beautiful Acapulco and its people are; Guerrero is a state in love with boxing and bringing the champions and the great stars of this sport is an illusion for all the people of Acapulco, for this reason we are totally committed to making this convention unforgettable” -he commented-
The president of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaimán, was moved and commented that this convention has many meanings because he not only expects a GREAT event, full of surprises and memorable moments, but personally Acapulco is a place that evokes his childhood, those years in which he enjoyed a vacation with his family.
He announced some of the activities that will be taking place from November 6 to 11, starting with the traditional welcome cocktail, as well as a golf and fishing tournament. The grand opening ceremony that he promised will be spectacular, with an officials’ seminar and ring, and a beautiful awards dinner on the beach.
The following days will of course have many work sessions, such as mandatory fights, ratings, medical seminar, workshops, WBC Cares visits and two boxing cards that will be broadcast internationally.
He added that more than 70 world champions are confirmed, including Miguel Cotto, Julio Cesar Chavez, Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, Ana Maria Torres, Jeff Fenech, Mia St. John and even iconic promoter Don King.
Without wanting to reveal all the surprises that there will be during the convention, he announced that Jackie Nava, the first WBC female world champion and who recently announced her retirement, will be crowned Queen of Boxing, as well as a well-deserved tribute to the champion from Acapulco, Marcos Villasana.
Mauricio commented that the WBC convention already started, since everyone works at full steam to make an event that the whole world is talking about, since Acapulco will be the center of world of boxing from November 6 to 11.
Finally, Mr. Santos Ramirez Cuevas, Secretary of Tourism for the State of Guerrero, said that the idea of the Governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pineda, was to give a strong boost to sports, to make this State a multicultural destination where they could converge all sports and hosting the WBC 60th world convention is a dream fulfilled.
