Gary Shaw, best known for his work in boxing promotions, is now focusing on a different type of fight.
In the face of the Covd-19 pandemic he has donated protective masks to the Miami police.
Gary said: “Here in Miami was where I became a great boxing promoter, I want to give back to the city.”He and his wife donated a thousand masks for the protection of Miami police officers.
“What really caught me is when I saw the deaths of two sheriff’s officers,” Shaw said.
South Florida lost two law enforcement officers to COVID-19, José Díaz Ayala and Shannon Bennett.
The terrible loss is highlighting the new threat affecting police on daily basis and their immediate need for protection.
Miami Police Chief Jorge Colina said: “It really inspires us to want to keep coming to work and doing what we do every day for our residents, so thank you very much.”
Gary says he will continue to donate until the battle against the virus is won.
