WBC super flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada, wants to fight a unification bout against WBA champion Kazuto Ioka on December 31st in Japan, but only if the purse is enticing.
Nothing has yet been finalized and negotiations are still underway. However, Juan aged 33 (44-3, 28 KO`s) has been training in Sonora, and for the last two months at altitude in the Mexico City area. Kazuto is 34, and Juan says they both have similar levels of experience plus maturity. He says: “Kazuto is a great fighter and he`s seasoned. I`ve been training hard and have already got in some excellent sparring.
“This fight would have a great degree of difficulty as we`re both champions and have the willpower of champions to win. We are both determined to do that. I think it could be a complicated fight, but not hard.”
Juan says to go to Japan and to fight a Japanese world champion should and must be adequately rewarded, and he`s capable plus confident of going there and accomplishing victory, given the proper pay. He stresses he wants to unify all the belts, and this would be an important step towards that.
