Fundora TKO’s Booker in four
Lofty Sebastian Fundora shone in his first defense as WBC super welterweight champion, defeated Chordale Booker by technical knockout in four at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.
After a quiet first round during which Sebastian used his long range ramrod right jab and Chordale retreated moving laterally, in round two Sebastian landed hard combinations and then another damaging flurry, just before the bell.
In round three Chordale was going to the body but was ominously caught with a heavy left hook to the side of the head, as Sebastian closed in. Chordale’s nose was bleeding and his face was already marked up by the constant long range drilling.
Two jarring left uppercuts dropped Chordale to the canvass in round four. He got up but was backed into the ropes, where Sebastian unleashed two rapid fire left hooks to his head. Referee Thomas Taylor had seen enough and promptly stepped in to save Chordale at two minutes fifty one seconds.
Thus with the exclamation mark of a plus, Sebastian improved his record to 22 wins with only one loss and one draw, while Booker suffered his second defeat in 25 fights.
Both men sporting embraced after the result was announced. Sister Gabriela, who is undisputed flyweight champion, unlaced Big Brother’s gloves and their Dad Freddy held up a shirt depicting Don José and Dona Martha in a so poignantly memorable tribute to Boxing’s First Couple.
