Fresh as a daisy Fress retains WBC International title in Germany

At the Kraftverkehr Chemnitz in Chemnitz, Germany, Roman Fress retained his WBC International Cruiserweight title by ninth round knockout of Stefan Nikolic, with a powerful left hook to the liver.

In Germany, the open scoring system was used with excellent results, proving that it is an excellent and effective rule implemented by the WBC.

It was a close fight, a draw after 4 rounds. After 8 rounds, Anssi Perajoki (Finland) had his scorecard tied.

Fabian Güggenheim (Switzerland) and Alexander Walter (Germany) had  Fress ahead by a narrow margin, prior to his stoppage victory.

The Referee was Massimo Barrovecchio (Italy).

Roman Fress, ranked 19th by the WBC, successfully defended his International title with this victory.
