WBC super featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster wants a unification fight with WBO champion Emanuel Navarrete.
He said this at the World Boxing Council’s Convention in Hamburg, Germany, commenting: “What’s next? Hopefully a unification with Navarrete, or if not, we’ll see if we can get any of the other champions. The next best option, whoever it is, we’re ready.
“I think Navarrete is a great fighter and awkward. I think he’s one of the fighters who would bring out the greatness in me, so that’s what I’m looking for in the future. Someone in front of me that’s going to show the world, I’ve really got it. The Rocky Hernandez bout is the kind of fight that brings out the best of me.”
As for losing his title to Robson Conceição and then winning it back in the rematch, O’Shaquie says: “It feels great to be a two time champion. It definitely fells better to say two times than one time.”
What did he learn from the first fight against Robson?
“I just learned not to be complacent. Not to think you’ve got it in the bag. You’ve got to go to work for the whole twelve rounds and stay consistent.”
For O’Shaquie the Green and Gold is his top fulfillment. He says: “This is the most prestigious belt. Everyone wants the Green and Gold. For me, the testing and everything that comes with the belt is important. I’m a clean athlete, so I want everybody that I step in the ring with to be clean, and the WBC makes sure that happens. So everything to do with the belt, I love.
“I’ll next fight in April or May. I’ve fought four times this year. My next opponent has not yet been named, but…stay tuned.”
