Mexican Katty Gutiérrez (23-7-0) will challenge World Boxing Council straw weight champion, Tina Rupprecht (10-0-1), on July 24 in Königsbrunn, Germany, after months of waiting and date changes due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Undefeated champion Rupprecht has successfully defended her belt four times, most recently in December 2019.
Gutierrez was already world champion in 2011 and she already knows what it is to knock on the door of her rival’s house in a title fight. In November 2019 she snatched the WBC silver belt from Joana Pastrana by split decision, in Spain.
The 105-pound world title challenger made her return to boxing in May 2019 and since then has achieved four victories.
