Fernando Beltran says Munguia is Ready to Fight Canelo… RIGHT NOW!
By James Blears
Fernando Beltran who is Supremo of Zanfer Promotions says he`s confident WBC Silver Super Middleweight Champion Jaime Munguia will fight WBC Absolute Champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez this year…but as to when, the ball is most firmly in the court of the King of Guadalajara.
Fernando who was the Guest of Honor at the WBC`s weekly Martes as Cafe, says he`s keen for the blast furnace opportunity to transform silver into gold, but he pointedly commented with molten earnestness: “We are waiting. Canelo holds all the decisions, but if he gives us the opportunity, we are ready to take it and believe me, it`ll be a sensational fight.”
Jaime who is now being trained by Freddie Roach, showed poise, composure, punch selection, range finding and tempered aggression for a terrific fight against John Ryder, knocking him down in rounds two and four and then twice in the ninth for an eye opening, eye watering ninth round TKO victory.
Fernando said: “Jaime is ready to fight anyone at one sixty eight. I really think Jaime and Canelo will fight this year. Jaime is ready to take that fight any day of the week. I want to change silver into gold. Canelo is still at his peak, but we`re convinced Jaime has everything with which to win.”
Jaime is from Tijuana in the North of Mexico and Canelo hails from Guadalajara which is in the West of the country. When two Mexicans get into the ring together to fight…All the ingredients for a thriller in the Hitchcock tradition.
