Edwards happy to accommodate an immediate rematch with Rosales
On December 22, at the O2 Arena in London, Englishman Charlie Edwards clearly defeated the Nicaraguan Cristofer Rosales, to capture the flyweight title of the World Boxing Council, but he`s willing to fight him all over again, and soon!
Although there was no disputing the clear victory, Edwards accepted that there`s a rematch clause in place that he could immediately exercise, to get that commitment out of the way, and then seek other important matches in his career.
“The rematch clause is in place. I`m sure I’ll beat him better the second time, as I`ve already gauged his pace and have mastered his range. He can`t beat me,” Edwards confidently told Sky Sports.
“The only thing he can do is try to push me harder. And when he does this, it`ll open up more spaces and room to hit him. He tried to push me hard, he really did, but the reality was that I was hurting him.”
With the WBC belt in his firmly in his possession, Edwards reveals he has a number of interesting options to consider in 2019, which include unification matches with other flyweight champions.
