Donaire and Young ready for the WBSS bantamweight semifinal

On Saturday the Diamond champion Nonito ‘Filipino Flash’ Donaire (39-5, 25Ko’s) fights American Stephon Young (18-1-3, 7 KOs) of St. Louis, Missouri, who will be replacing Zolani Tete (28-3 , 21 Ko’s), who  suffered a shoulder  injury. 

This fight will be the semi final of the successful World Boxing Super Series tournament, and it`ll be in the Cajundome arena of Lafayette, Louisiana.

Nonito in the Quarter finals defeated the then tournament favorite Ryan Burnett.

For his part, Stephon, the official reserve of the WBSS, replaces the South African Tete due to a right shoulder injury.

Thanks to the exemplar format of the World Boxing Super Series tournament Young was already in reserve and fighting fit on the same card. As  a replacement he will now have the opportunity to punch a ticket to the final.

 This Friday both fighters fulfilled the official weigh in  of the card.   Donaire registered 117.6 pounds and Young was 117.3 pounds.
