World Boxing Council super bantamweight champion Yamileth Mercado, is training in Tijuana, Baja California, to shape up for her August 29th challenge to WBC featherweight champion, Amanda Serrano.
Yamileth is working with coach Miguel Reyes, strategist Mario Mendoza and physical trainer Raúl Robles, who prepare legendary world champion Jackie Nava.
“I feel very happy to be in Tijuana, working very hard for what will be the most important fight of my career,” Mercado said.
“Yamileth has the youth, the strength, the hunger, the talent and the style to beat Amanda..We know what to do. Amanda is a great fighter, very strong, but Yeimi has the style to overcome this, ” commented trainer Reyes.
Mercado comes from successfully defending her world crown for the second time in June, defeating tough fighter Angélica Rascón by decision.
