World Boxing Council heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder, attended a private audience regarding the non-religious foundation of Pope Francis, Scholas Ocurrentes, in the company of the President of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaimán, to be appointed Ambassador of peace within the BoxVal program of that foundation.
Wilder, besides being a great champion, has a heart of Gold. He started in boxing to be able to cover the enormous medical expenses of his daughter Naieya, who has spina bifida. Wilder has always been determined to provide for his family and everything is underpinned by that aim.
Outside ring hours, Deontay is a kindly caring man. In Rome he visited the children’s hospital, giving great moments of happiness, enthusiasm and hope to so many children, who daily fight valiantly for their lives. Deontay also took some time to hug, chat and motivate the parents of these little angels, as they try their utmost for their children.
