Former world champions Guillermo ‘Chacal’ Rigondeaux and Julio ‘Pollito’ Ceja will fight a super bantamweight eliminator of the World Boxing Council, on Sunday, June 23 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
Ceja is first ranked in the 122 pounds division, and Rigondeaux will come to the fight as third on that list, which is why it was decided to approve the battle as an eliminatory. So that the winner faces the winner of Rey Vargas vs. Tomoki Kameda.
Ceja who has KO flair, arrives to this match with a record of 32 wins and 28 knockouts with 3 losses. He trained in Indio, California, with coach Joel Díaz, with whom he says he has improved appreciably.
Rigondeaux (18-1-0, 12 Ko’s) will relish his first major battle after reaching an agreement with Premier Boxing Champions, and a win would propel him to contest the WBC crown.
