Today, we remember a great feat achieved by David Benavidez
When David Benavidez was 13 years old, he stood 5-foot-4 and weighed 250 pounds.
He dedicated himself in the gym as he reshaped his entire body. He found in boxing a healthy life and a reason to believe.
All the hard work paid off and on September 8, 2017, Benavidez became the youngest super middleweight champion in history at the tender age of just twenty, by defeating Ronald Gavril via split-decision. Benavidez survived a final round knockdown, getting back on to his feet to finish off a Fight of the Year candidate.
The knockdown earned Gavril a rematch with Benavidez, but this time Benavidez defeated him via a wide unanimous decision to retain his title.
