Two-division former world champion Danny “Swift” García officially announced his retirement from professional boxing, ending a distinguished career that made him one of the most popular fighters of the last decade.
The Puerto Rican-American boxer will have his farewell fight on October 18, 2025, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, a venue where he achieved some of his most memorable victories.
The event, titled Farewell to Brooklyn, will be promoted by his own company, Swift Promotions, marking his return after more than a year of inactivity.
García debuted professionally in 2007 and quickly established himself as one of the top fighters of his generation. Over his career, he amassed a record of 37 wins and 4 losses, with 21 victories by knockout.
He was a world champion in two divisions: super lightweight and welterweight. Among his most notable wins are victories over Amir Khan, Erik “Terrible” Morales, Zab Judah, Lucas Matthysse, Lamont Peterson, and Paulie Malignaggi.
Throughout his career, García faced some of the best fighters of his era, including Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, and Erislandy Lara, the latter in 2024 when he attempted to compete at middleweight.
Known for his aggressive style, powerful left hand, and counterpunching ability, Danny García leaves a legacy of consistency and entertainment. Beyond his work in the ring, “Swift” has been a promoter and media personality, proudly representing his Puerto Rican heritage.
The October 18 fight in Brooklyn will mark the end of an era for one of the most charismatic and competitive boxers of contemporary American boxing.
