Former champion Danny García is determined to exploit his challenge opportunity against WBC welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr on November 21, to be broadcast on FOX Sports Pay-Per-View.
“I have seen the fights that Errol had with Mikey Garcia and Shawn Porter and I feel that his style is perfect for me to defeat him. I definitely feel like the time is right for this fight,” Danny Garcia commented.
“It is time for me to step into the ring and take what is mine. I will show that I am truly deserving of the WBC Green and Gold Belt. I had a long reign at 140 pounds. I took a little break, but now is the time.
“I know he is not better than me, he has no more abilities. He has no more power than me. I have faced better fighters. I have been tested. I have been cut. I have bled. I have been in wars. So, it comes down to who wants more to win.”
Spence hasn’t fought since he defeated Shawn Porter by split decision to win the WBC 147-pound title on September 28 of last year at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
For his part, Garcia comes from defeating Ukrainian Ivan Redkach (23-5-1, 18 KOs, 1 NC) by unanimous decision in his last fight, on January 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
