Ample big guys and power punchers Andy “The Destroyer” Ruiz Jr and Luis “King Kong” Ortiz ambled in, to kick off their official press tour in the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles for their titanic clash there on September 4th.
Former heavyweight champion Andy (34-2, 22 KO`s) is promising no waltz, but rather a rugged toe to toe heavy hitting encounter, which isn`t destined to go the distance against southpaw clubber Luis, who`s twice challenged for sport`s most incandescent prize. Luis is also promising to exercise the KO clause and finish matters rather early.
The fight, which is going to be a blast, is promoted by TGB. It`s President Tom Brown enthused: “This is my kind of press conference. There`s nothing like a great heavyweight fight. Two guys with real heavyweight power. Andy is risking everything by taking on Luis. This is one fight you don`t want to miss!”
Luis stated: “I`m grateful to be in this elevated top level and to have this opportunity. I`m very strong and we`ve prepared for the best Andy Ruiz. May the best man win, and we won`t disappoint the fans. I predict a KO as does Andy. We are two fighters who love to fight and… we punch hard!”
A slimmer Andy promised a strict diet serving of raw power saying: “He`s hungry and I`m hungry. We`re going to go toe to toe and then we`ll see who`ll be the winner. I want to be explosive. We don`t come here to cherry pick. He`s strong and he`s a lefty. I`m not underestimating him. The main thing is to stay busy.”
After an absence of four and a half years, former three division champion Abner Mares is returning to the ring on the undercard, taking on Miguel Flores. Abner promises: “I`m going to show him what the old timers can do! I`m making the comeback for me and I`m going to perform. I feel great in sparring and I`m seeing the progress.”
At the conclusion of the open-air sunshine presser, punctuated by the strong rays of the sun, another pressing matter, with a respectful and cordial faceoff between Andy and Luis, followed by an affable handshake. These two movers and shakers won`t be so genial on fight night!
