
World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Claressa Shields defeated Danielle Perkins by unanimous decision at the Dort Financial Center in Flint, Michigan.
Shields got off to a fast start, showing great speed, although Perkins adjusted as she waited to counter the attacks.
Claressa boxed with good strategy and dominated most of the fight, against a dangerous opponent.
In the final round, Perkins put Shields on the ropes as she looked to land a left hook. Shields constantly countered with her right and in the remaining 10 seconds, landed a punch that sent Perkins to the canvas to end the fight in dramatic fashion.
The Jdges scored the cards 100-89, 97-92 and 99-90, as Shields successfully defended her World Boxing Council title for the first time.
