Adelaida “Cobra” Ruiz (11-0-1, 6 KOs) has her second chance to fight for the World Boxing Council interim super flyweight title, when she faces Sonia Osorio (15-7-2, 4 KOs) in a long-awaited rematch, on Friday July 29 in San José, Costa Rica.
Ruiz from Los Angeles, California, made her professional debut in 2017 and has since gone undefeated in 12 fights. She had a technical draw against Osorio in the first fight between the two. It was stopped due to a cut above Osorio’s left eye that was caused by an accidental clash of heads.
Following that bout, Ruiz gained knockout victories over Edith Flores and Nancy Franco. The 33-year-old fighter feels this rematch is her chance to finish what she started in March 2021.
Osorio, 29, has faced some of the best fighters in the world. Seniesa Estrada and Marlen Esparza. Despite suffering losses in those bouts, Osorio had the opportunity to fight for the interim WBC super flyweight belt, which she won by unanimous decision against Estrella Valverde. Osorio is confident that she can defeat Ruiz.
The bout will be part of a card presented by MarvNation Promotions.
