The World Boxing Council (WBC), through its Clean Boxing Program, and the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) have reiterated the prohibition of Epiandrosterone.
A substance classified as an anabolic steroid. It is considered a high-risk agent with the potential to seriously harm athletes’ health.
Epiandrosterone, also known as 3β-hydroxy-5α-androstan-17-one, is a derivative of testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Its anabolic effects are harmful to health, as they alter muscle mass and hormonal balance.
According to VADA guidelines, the substance is included in the S1 category of anabolic agents, which are prohibited at all times, both in and out of competition. This criterion aligns with the principles of anti-doping regulations, which consider three factors: the potential to enhance performance, the risk to the athlete’s health, and the violation of the spirit of the sport.
The WBC’s Clean Boxing Program fully adopts this list to ensure that fighters compete on a level playing field.
