WBC flyweight champion, Julio César Martínez of Mexico, boldly moves up into the super flyweight 115 pounds division, to take on former champion, Nicaraguan Román ‘Chocolatito’ González, this Saturday at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.
With the mantle of soaring greatness in the air, Martínez (18-1 14 KOs) will fight at 115 pounds for the first time against Chocolatito (50-3 41 KOs), replacing Juan Francisco Estrada, who fell ill with COVID-19.
Both participated in a training open to the media, where they showed that they`re ready.
Martinez’s most recent fight was a brief but entertaining slugfest against Puerto Rican McWilliams Arroyo, in New Hampshire, last November, where both hit the canvass in round one. Arroyo, suffered two cuts from an accidental clash of heads, so the fight needed to be stopped in the third round and it was ruled a “No Contest.”
