
The city of Kigali, Rwanda, was the setting for a historic event for African sports with the official presentation of the Carlos Takam Foundation Boxing Academy, a project that seeks to boost youth talent and strengthen the presence of boxing on the continent.
The ceremony brought together international figures, including Prince Albert of Monaco, former champion and promoter Carlos Takam, the president of the International Cycling Union (UCI), David Lappartient, and Princess Sophia Wolkonsky, as well as sports officials, local authorities, and special guests.
As part of the highlights, the WBC Africa belt was presented, a symbolic masterpiece that was placed on display atop a warrior statue, emphasizing the union between Rwandan cultural tradition and modern boxing. Additionally, Prince Albert of Monaco received a WBC World Champion belt as special recognition for his support for sports and his connection to international development initiatives.
The designer of the Africa belt, Khalil Rahman, was also present, showcasing the inspiration and work behind this unique piece that represents the pride of a continent.
With this inauguration, the Carlos Takam Foundation seeks to open a new chapter in the history of African boxing, offering young people in Rwanda and across Africa a platform for athletic and personal development, under the emblem of the WBC and with the backing of globally renowned figures.
