Carlos Cuadras Presented with his Green and Gold Belt Again

Beaming new interim super flyweight monarch, Carlos Cuadras, received the Green and Gold Belt he won at the WBC’s Convention in Uzbekistan, by  defeating compatriot and also former world champion Pedro Guevara by split decision.

The new champion received his belt from the aboslute super flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada, and the President of the WBC, Mr. Mauricio Sulaimán.

Already with the belt on his chest, Carlos remembered that night at the Humo Arena, where the atmosphere and the dedication of thousands of fans made him feel at home and encouraged him to again realize the dream he did almost 9 years ago, to be world champion.

With his voice somewhat broken with emotion, Carlos gave a special thanks, because as he himself noted, the driving force of his life, his is son Carlitos and his wife Saraí, to whom he also publicly acknowledged their unconditional love, patience as she has always believed in him.

The gratitude was extended to his work team, his colleagues and of course to the President of the WBC, Mr. Mauricio Sulaimán.

Such a special day as today celebrates  48 years since the election of Don José Sulaimán to the presidency of the WBC.  Carlos could not help but remember the man who made him dream big and who always encouraged him to give everything inside and outside the ring.

“It is said easy but almost nine years have passed since I was crowned for the first time, a time that is said easy but where I knew the light and the darkness, where sometimes I got lost but thanks to my son and my wife I found my way back.

“Nine years in which I never gave up and looked for the opportunity to recover my beloved title; Today I am here again, celebrating this triumph and ready for everything that comes. Thanks to everyone who made it possible. I owed it to him and I owed to them,” he commented.

Taking advantage of Juan Francisco’s visit, Carlos did not hesitate to tell him that he keeps the thorn of that defeat and that he hopes that in 2024 they can clash again in a ring, to this time get the victory and be the absolute champion of the division.

However, for now and to say goodbye to the year, he will take a well-deserved break to spend the holidays with his family and enjoy this victory with his loved ones, but he stated that 2024 will arrive with more “medicine” than ever.
