Mexican Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez regained his title as Undisputed Super Middleweight World Champion by defeating elusive and unwilling to engage Cuban William Scull by unanimous decision in 12 rounds in the main event of a card held at The Venue Riyadh Season in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Due to television issues, the fight took place on Sunday morning in Saudi Arabia, but in the Americas it was broadcast on Saturday night. “Canelo” delivered despite the unusual schedule, dominating Scull in a fight that became boring and tedious because while the Mexican tried to put on a show, the Cuban was constantly running, with catch me if you can tactics. Whereas Canelo was trying throughout, Scull was being tedious and very trying indeed to the patience!
With this victory, Canelo improved his record to 63-2-2, with 39 knockouts, and took home the “Xicoténcatl” Tlaxcala Belt, a masterpiece deeply inspired by Tlaxcala’s rich cultural heritage, honoring the spirit of a legendary warrior and the region’s vibrant artistic traditions.
