Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and Edgar Berlanga will face each other at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night and both were face to face at the official weigh-in of the card, showing that they are in excellent shape to step into the ring.
The main event will offer another chapter of the long boxing rivalry between Mexico and Puerto Rico, with Canelo defending his super middleweight world titles.
This is the latest episode of numerous historic clashes, including Salvador Sánchez vs. Wilfredo Gómez and Julio César Chávez Sr. vs. Héctor Camacho,
Canelo is no stranger to this heated rivalry, having defeated Puerto Rican Hall of Famer Miguel Cotto in one of the most important fights of Mexico vs. Puerto Rico.
To recognize this important fight, the WBC will present the winner with the “TAMAULIPAS II” belt, a gift from the organization and from Mexico to the world of boxing.
Canelo weighed in at 166.8 pounds, while Berlanga registered marginally heavier at 167.6 pounds.
