Welsh wizard Jay Harris (17-0, 9 KOs) will challenge Mexican mini Marciano Julio César Martínez, The World Boxing Council fly champion, on Saturday, February 29 at the Ford Center in Frisco, Texas, with live broadcast by DAZN in the United States and Sky Sports in the United Kingdom.
Harris, 29, comes from a celtic extravaganza triumph, when he traveled to Belfast in October and blasted out three-time Olympian Paddy Barnes in four blistering rounds.
No ifs, but or may for Jay. He says:
“I feel motivated. It will be a great fight. It has always been my dream to be world champion and I will not miss the opportunity. I want to thank Matchroom and MTK global for making this possible. Julio is a great fighter, but I feel in the best physical form of my career. I’m going to surprise the world.”
This will be the first defense of champion Martinez (15-1, 12 knockouts), who won the title before Christmas, knocking out former champion Cristofer Rosales in a classic slugfest.
