
Lightning fast and powerful Vasily Lomachenko (14-1, 10 KO’s), 31, who has won world titles in featherweight and super featerweight division, defeated intrepid Luke Campbell (20-3, 16 KO’s) depite the Brit having an advantage in height and reach, and in so doing, conquered the Lightweight title of the World Boxing Council.
The fight between Lomachenko and Campbell began with caution and prudent study from both and Campbell tried to set the tone, by connecting with some stiff solid punches. But Lomachenko did not allow him to dominate.
While Lomachenko attacked with accurate blows to the body and head, Campbell tried to defend himself, sometimes with success, and other times…less so.
In the second half of the fight, Lomachenko was near to knocking out Campbell, who survived thanks to his skills and resistance gleaned from solid physical preparation. The eleventh round had Campbell sagging as Lomanchenko buckled him with some massive body punches.
Lomachenko unified the WBC, WBA and WBO Lightweight titles after beating a brave Luke Campbell by unanimous decision.
The Judges’ scores were two cards of 119-108 and another 118-109.
