World Boxing Council 7th-ranked middleweight Brandon Adams (22-4, 14 KOs) beat previously undefeated Ukrainian Serhii Bohachuk (18-1, 18 KOs) by knockout in the eighth round, to win the Continental title of the Americas, at the “Felix Pagan Pintor” Municipal Boxing Gymnasium, in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.
Bohachuk started by controlling the fight more effectively, building up a comfortable advantage on the judges’ scores. In the eighth round, during an exchange of blows…BOOM, Adams landed a powerful left hook to the jaw, sending the Ukrainian crashing down to the canvas. Bohachuk bravely got up, but on unsteady legs, so the Referee stopped the fight. Behind on the scorecards, Brandon blasted his way to victory.
On the same card, super featherweight Bryan Chevalier (15-1, 12 KOs) defeated Carlos Zambrano (26-2, 11 KOs) by knockout in the third round.
Super lightweight Danielito Zorrilla (15-0, 11 KOs) defeated Ruslan Madiyev (13-2, 5 KOs) by split decision over eight rounds.
Super middleweight Fernando Vargas Jr. defeated Salome Flores Torres by knockout in the first round. Vargas is the son of former world champion Fernando “Feroz” Vargas.
