Boxing returns to TUDN with “The Temple”

With two women’s world championship fightes, backed by an attractive undercard, “El Templo” will premiere, a new concept from Televisa Univisión Deportes Network (TUDN) which promises to be an innovative boxing platform.
Under the leadership of Pepe Gomez , “Cancun Boxing”, “Promociones del Pueblo” and “Boxing Time Promotions” present the card Boxing is Back Home! at the Grand Oasis Hotel in Cancun, Quintana Roo. It`s also highlighting the much anticipated return of boxing to the screens of Televisa.
The bantamweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Mariana “Barby” Juárez (54-9-4, 18 Ko’s), will seek to make a successful defense of her championship against former world champion Yulihan ” Cobrita ”Luna (19-3-1, 3 Ko`s).
In another interesting fight, the WBC light fly champion, Yesenia “Niña” Gómez (17-5-3, 6 Ko`s), who in September 2018 made history by becoming the first woman from Quintana Roo to win a world championship , will defend her crown against the undefeated Mirna Sánchez (5-0-1, 2 Ko`s).
The Grand Oasis hotel has had a close relationship with the WBC, as in addition to hosting of major international boxing cards, it has twice hosted historic WBC Conventions. In 2012, Oasis hosted the coronation of Muhammad Ali as King of Boxing and in 2019 the coronation of Julio César Chávez as “Great Mayan Chief.”
In the evening, a well-deserved tribute will be held to two important personalities who passed this year: Pedro Pueyo, owner of the Oasis Hotel Chain and a great pioneer of tourism in Cancun. And Rubén Olmos Rojas, Corporate Director of Special Events and Public Relations of the Oasis group, who was a person dedicated to his work with professionalism and dedication.
The event will be broadcast on Channel 5 and Televisa Univisión Deportes Network (TUDN), as well as on the channel’s “Total Knockout WBC” platform.
